The Amorphophallus titanum flower, aka Bella, that lives at the UNC Charlotte campus bloomed on June 22. This was a big occasion as this flower blooms only once every 3 years and only if the conditions are right. The flower only lasts a few days at most and this one only lasted 2 days due to the high heat. You can find more information and photos at garden.uncc.edu. This is the largest flower in the world and can reach as high as 12 feet.

Welcome
Welcome to my website. I was passively interested in politics for many years, but after enduring the 8 year national disaster that was the Bush administration in Washington, I decided it was time to get involved. I was elected as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention from the North Carolina 9th district. After the convention I worked for Harry Taylor's campaign for congress in the NC 9th district.
In 2009 I was a candidate for Charlotte City Council from District 7, and my campaign helped give attention to the small business community of Charlotte.
In March 2010 I was appointed by the Charlotte City Council to a 3 year term on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee and recently reappointed to another 3 year term.
I am currently the 1st Vice Chair of the Mecklenburg County Democratic Party.
Through my involvement I found that one person can make a difference. The problem is that one person is not enough to make all the changes that are needed.

Robert Reich’s Straight Talk About the Economy

it is awesome but it is not a flower, it is a spathe. The spathe is a modified leaf whose purpose is to offer protection to the spadix at the center of the inflorescence.
